October Newsletter 2003
In this issue:
An Excedrin Moment
Are headaches a normal occurrence for you? “Grab a pill for every ill” is what a whole generation of Americans believe in. There are miracle cures from weight loss to the common cold, and it all comes in the form of a pill. Headaches are no exception. These “remedies” only mask the true issue, They treat the symptom, but don't fix the problem.
Based on extensive studies in the United States , Canada , Germany and Australia , 90% of all headaches are caused by “vertebral subluxation”. This is a change in a bone's position causing spinal and muscle tension at the base of the scull.
A chiropractic adjustment can fix you right up, so if you or a loved one, friend or neighbor who are bothered by headaches, get in here. Its one of the best things you can do for yourself, and those you care about. Your Dr. 2 Feel Good will even throw in a free exam and a sweet surprise just for coming in!
Elaine suffered from chronic headaches. With continual adjustments from Your Dr. 2 Feel Good, those headaches are all but completely gone. “Life is good” says Elaine.
Buzz around the office
We have decided to save a few trees in the office, and you can help. If you have an e-mail address, and would like to receive this newsletter via e-mail, give your address to Elaine and we will do our part in saving our environment and your mailbox clutter.
Well, the deadline for signing up for giving blood has come faster than we could come up with 35 signatures, so we will try again in the future, and give everyone a better head's up the next time. However, the food drive is still on.
There will be a bucket in the lobby for non-perishable food items starting the middle of October. Bring a can of food, get a sweet treat in return!
Hot tip of the Month
Take a breather. It can never be understated. Breathing is key to life itself. And breathing correctly can make or break you. Here are some ways to get the most out of every breath. If you have trouble, Your Dr. 2 Feel Good or Elaine can go through it with you.
1. Try to remember to stand or sit with your head up, shoulders back and relaxed. Breath deeply in and out through your nose. Hips and shoulders should be aligned. If you're slouched, your lungs won't have room to expand.
2. Walk with the same upright, relaxed posture. Swing your arms freely. This will help increase blood flow and oxygen through your body. Breath deeply in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth. Steady and even.
3. When doing your work out, ALWAYS EXHALE on the “positive resistance”; when coming up on a sit-up, bringing up, pulling down or pulling weight toward you. Basically, exhale when you strain. If you inhale doing these moves, you put too much pressure on your heart and arteries. This can be very dangerous. Holding your breath has the same results. Always remember to breath.
4. Deep breathing during stretching is key for mind and body. It cleans toxins from your body and gives you a clear mind. Remember to exhale when bending as you move into your stretch and deeply inhale through the nose as you release the stretch.
One last thing before we go. Your Dr 2 feel Good and Elaine have been kicking around the idea of holding a stretching class 2 or three time a week for a minimal fee. We are trying to figure out best time, days and what works with the group. If you have some suggestions, please feel free to call, come in or e-mail your suggestions. It will be greatly appreciated.
