Just What is a Subluxation Anyway???

In the year 2525, I wonder if there will be Social Security or Medicare benefits. I wonder how alive we'll REALLY be. I also wonder how many children and adults will think of seeing a chiropractor for their health care? I was reminded the other day by an adult female patient that she understood why she was under chiropractic care but, since her daughter had no symptoms, she wondered why her daughter should receive chiropractic care.

You would think we ALL want to perform at our best – the best in sports, in school, mentally and physically. Chiropractic care paves the way for us to perform our best because everything has to do with the nervous system. The bottom line is this: if you can clear up any subluxation affecting the nervous system, you'll be pretty much okay.

What is a SUBLUXATION you say? Before I remind you of what SUBLUXATION is did I tell you about the WINDSOR AUTOPSIES? Well, in the November 1921 issue of the Medical Times , Henry Winsor, M.D., questioned chiropractic. “Chiropractors claim that by adjusting vertebrae, they can relieve stomach troubles, ulcers, menstrual cramps, thyroid conditions, kidney disease, constipation, heart disease, lung and other diseases – but how?” Dr. Winsor wanted to see the relationship between diseased internal organs, the vertebrae, and the nerves.

Dr. Winsor performed dissections on 75 human and 72 cat cadavers and found that 221 structures, other than the spine, were diseased. He found a nearly 100% correlations between “minor curvatures” of the vertebrae and diseases of the internal organs.

  • Heart disease: 20 cases involving the upper five thoracic vertebrae.
  • Lung disease: 26 cases involving the upper thoracic area.
  • Gallbladder disease: 5 cases involving the mid-thoracic area.
  • Kidney disease: involving the lower thoracic area.
  • Prostate and bladder cases: involving the upper lumbar area.
  • Uterus conditions: involving the 2 nd lumbar area.

So, just what is a SUBLUXATION? This is what doctors of chiropractic look to find when a patient comes into the office with a health complaint.

A SUBLUXATION is the change of the relationship between two vertebrae (spine) that can create pressure on a nerve. Everyone knows what a dislocation of a joint is. Well, a SUBLUXATION is a much smaller movement of the bones or vertebrae. Over time, this change and pressure can have serious effects on joints and organs of the body. Most commonly is arthritis: the decay and breakdown of opposing joints.

Now this doesn't happen overnight, it can take months or years for SYMPTOMS to appear.

It matters not our age – young or old – Chiropractic care is our best defense in reducing SUBLUXATIONS for healthier lives.

Warmest regards,
Dr. Gary Dixon

A Better Sandwich Choice

You may want to pass on the pastrami sandwich in favor of a peanut butter sandwich instead.

Frequently eating red and processed meats, such as steak, cold cuts, and pastrami may increase a person's risk of colon cancer, a new study reports. Opt for healthier protein choices such as tofu, legumes, fish, nuts, seeds and peanut butter and limit red meat servings to one or less per week.

Every time you make a positive stride in your exercise plan, jot it down in your exercise log or on a sticky note to post on your refrigerator. Did you go up a level on the elliptical trainer? Have you moved on to heavier dumbbells for shoulder presses and arm curls? No achievement is too small! Writing it down will help to see your progress in print and keep you coming back for more!
